Despite this disruption, UK officials confirmed that the attack did not compromise the larger electricity grid or the national energy supply.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero clarified that the targeted facility was a small-scale generator, underscoring that the country’s broader energy infrastructure remains secure and resilient. Furthermore, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reported no outages affecting major regulated power stations across the nation.
This incident arises amidst escalating tensions between the UK and Iran. Notably, the UK has permitted the United States to engage in defensive operations against Iran from US-operated bases on British soil. In response, Iran has issued warnings that any bases used for attacks on its territory could be deemed legitimate targets.
